My disabled son has reoccurring ear infections and boils.?

My son who has down syndrome, has a perforated ear drum that needs constant monitoring. But the strange thing is he will get an ear infection that is treated with antibiotics. A few weeks later he will get an outbreak of boils on his bottom. After that is treated with antibiotics he is fine for several weeks until another ear infection appears. This has been going back and forth for a few years. Is there a connection?
