Why only Hindi in the incredible India?

According to the etiquette of your host here, Yahoo Answers, questions are to be open to all and no one is to be excluded. That said, and with all due respect, I agree with you about the languages. It has been my understanding that less than half of all Indians speak Hindi as a mother tongue, and that the Constitution of India recognizes 22 national languages as official. Am I wrong?
