Citroen Xantia collapsing suspension?

Hello again experts! Xantia 1998 diesel estate...When I turn the engine off and leave the car, the front end wails like an elephant and the suspension drops quite a few inches. Also recently, the suspension drops as I'm starting the engine. It's no problem whilst I'm moving, just stationery. Any ideas please?....Thanks in advance!
