The Host by Stephenie Meyer?

Have you read The Host? I'm wondering... when Jared still had Wanda trapped in her little cave cell, why did he move away from her while he was eating his Cheetos? I know she was laughing at him.... but why did that cause him to move? Was it because the sudden soul-gone-mad really freaked him out and he feared for his life? Because seriously, that would be hella funny, lol.
